Week 3 RR? - Understanding my character(s)
(Be sure to include quote and page number!!)
You must use at LEAST 2 quotes from the book.
Understanding your character is a good way for you to really get into your book and see from another person's perspective. In your response this week, describe your character. Think about and discuss:
-1. your main character's personality
- 2. how they act/behave
- 3. what they look like
- 4. how old they are
- 5 what sort of education do you think that they have
- 6 who their friends and family are
- 7 what their financial (money) situation is
-8 and what their job is (if they have one).
I am still reading Whirligig by Paul Fleischman. My main character is very curious about what she is doing and she loyal and funny. I know this because her friend Alexandra describes Stephanie (main character) when they were going to a motorboat waiting in a cove. On page 19 it says, “Would you mind telling me where we're going?” Stephanie is asking Alexandra in a curious way. She describe herself as a tall girl with a long brown hair.(I am 5'3 and I assumed I'm the tallest one in my class) “I'm only five foot four...”on page 32. When I was reading the book, Alexandra was telling Stephanie that they are both 8th grader and they probably 14 to 13 years old (I know must of the people in 8th grade are 14 to 13 years old including me.)But they don't mention the school and I know she goes to school.“First, we're 8th grade,we're in biological primes”, it says on pg.20. I have no idea what her financial situation is because we haven’t met her mom and dad. She didn't even mention her family.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteGood job on bringing in quotes from the text to support your thinking. I'm curious about how the rest of your book goes. Your characters seem really interesting.

Next steps: Make sure that you are looking at your spelling and punctuation before you post and publish something to the web. Also, think about how you can separate the information that you are providing so that it's not all clumped together.
